TightSteer eliminates free-play in Ross steering boxes used on Studebaker and other early vehicles. The spring-loaded plunger keeps the sector shaft in constant contact with the cam (worm) and helps to reduce or eliminate steering wheel wobble. Model 200-X (extended) features a 1/2˝-20 threaded shaft with special extension and standard spring. Model 200-X fits the steering boxes on International Scout '61-'70, Studebaker President V8 ’39 -’40, Studebaker Commander ’50-’54, Studebaker GT Hawk ’62-'63, Studebaker Avanti '62-’64 & '55-'58, Studebaker Dictator '37, Studebaker Silver Hawk '57-'59, and other vehicles in which the larger Ross steering box was used. Installation installation instructions are included.
TightSteer replaces the "Lever Shaft Adjusting Screw" in the attached Ross Steering Box diagram.
Several early tractor manufacturers used Ross steering boxes. To determine which TightSteer you need, measure the diameter of the set screw.
