TightSteer eliminates free-play in Ross steering boxes used on Jeeps and many early vehicles. The spring-loaded plunger keeps the sector shaft in constant contact with the cam (worm) and helps to reduce or eliminate the notorious "death wobble." Model 200 features a 1/2˝-20 threaded shaft with “standard spring.” Model 200 fits the steering boxes on CJ5 (after 1967), M38A1, Willys truck ’54-’63, Willys station wagon 4WD ’54-’63, Willys sedan delivery 4WD ’54-’63, Willys FC170 '57-'65, Studebaker Golden Hawk '56-'58, and other vehicles in which the larger Ross steering box was used. Installation instructions are included.
TightSteer replaces the "Lever Shaft Adjusting Screw" in the attached Ross Steering Box diagram.
Several early tractor manufacturers used Ross steering boxes. To determine which TightSteer you need, measure the diameter of the set screw.
